How To Change Oil On Dodge Caravan ?

However, if the driving style is stopping and going, then the oil should be changed every 3,000 miles. Here are some tips that will show you how to change oil in a Dodge Caravan.
How to Change Oil in a Dodge Caravan:
- Make sure you have an oil filter wrench and socket wrench handy before attempting to change the oil.
- Elevate the Dodge Caravan using a jack and then place jack supports.
- Now open the open the hood of the vehicle and remove the oil filler cap and the oil dipstick.
- Take the oil drip pan, oil filter wrench, socket wrench and rags, and slide under the vehicle.
- Locate the oil filter drain plug and place the oil drip pan under the plug to catch all the old oil. The drain plug in a Dodge Caravan is located near the front of the engine. If you are not sure of the location, consult the owner's manual.
- In order to remove the oil drain plug, you will need the socket wrench to loosen the plug. Let the oil drain for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Once the oil has drained out, check the gasket. If the gasket is damaged, replace it with a new one. Make sure you grease the new gasket with new oil.
- Now remove the oil filter using the oil filter wrench. Let the oil from the filter drain out into the drip pan. You can use this opportunity to change the oil filter too. Replace the oil filter and tighten it using your hands.
- Now go under the hood and add new oil.
- If you want to check the oil level, start the engine and keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge. If it rises, it is fine. If it does not, switch off the car immediately and add more oil.
- Remove the jack supports and take oil reading on the dipstick. If the oil level is till the full mark, you do not have to add more oil. If not, then add a little more oil until the level reaches the full mark of the oil dipstick.
