Common Transmission Problems
If your car has a transmission problem, then you may think that you would have to shell out a lot of money for replacing the entire transmission or adding new parts. However, this is not the case always. Some transmission problems are small and do not cost an arm or leg. |

Some of the common transmission problems are as follows:
- Usually when the fluid levels are flow, it leads to a problem in the transmission. This can happen due to a leak when the gasket seals in the transmission are damaged. Low fluid levels result in the gears slipping or there might be a problem when shifting gears.
- Another problem associated with low levels of fluid is having a defective solenoid. This part is responsible for regulating the fluid flow in the transmission. If the solenoid is defective, then fluid flow will not be proper, resulting in the gear changing too slowly or gears slipping.
- You can even face problems with torque converter in the transmission. Here, there could be a problem with needle bearings located in the converter. You can locate this problem by putting the transmission in neutral. If there is a noise emanating, then the needle bearings are faulty and need to be replaced.
- At times, the clutch can get jammed. When this occurs, the fluid flow between the turbine and impeller is affected and you may think that the fluid levels are low. However, this is not the case. This problem can cause the transmission to overheat and shake. It can also have an adverse effect on the engine by reducing power.
