While the styling of these K-cars was angular with long hoods and shorter rear decks that added to their beauty, the performance of these cars too was exceptionally good compared with the other cars of that time. Moreover, the new V8 engine too could pull more weight and economy in those times.
The Dodge Aries had a 2.5 liter single injector four, with a 100 horsepower. This engine was not as powerful as some other K-cars of those times. But even then, the performance was powerful and sprightly. The Dodge Aries also had a throttle that opened very fast.
In the start, during 1982, the Dodge Aries with auto transmission took a time of 16.0 seconds to reach from 0-60 unlike the Plymouth Reliant which took times of 12.5 and 14.0 seconds. But the 4-speed Manual transmission Dodge Aries SE took a time of only 12.2 seconds in 1982.
The Dodge Aries’ gas mileage was exceptionally better with the stick-shift that made it the highest-mileage car capable of accommodating 6 passengers. The Dodge Aries also had a high torque that allowed it to run quite well whether with the air condition on, up hill or even fully loaded.
