Though this vehicle has been highly preferred, its flip side is the problems caused by the Dodge Ram automatic transmission. Many users have experienced problems during early shifting or have trouble with the shift indicators. Some people also feel that the truck shakes a lot when there is a change in the transmission. People also complain of lot of noise while shifting the truck into reverse.
Apart from these, there are issues reported with the speed of the vehicle on account of its transmission. They complain of being unable to move on to the third or the fourth gear. As a result, they find it difficult to move to a greater speed. Though sometimes you may not be able to move beyond the second gear, sometimes it just gets alright and you may find that you can easily shift gears. Most of the times, the answer to these problems lie in changing the transmission fluid or resorting to a filter change. And if things do not improve after this, then it needs further investigation. Not to mention that older trucks may give more trouble than the newer ones.
All in all, though the Dodge Ram automatic transmission has its share of problems, these are not unsolvable, and despite these problems, this vehicle is still a good choice.
