Ford Escort is a beautiful sedan and people who have bought the car completely enjoy it. However, several users have complained that it is not easy to change the serpentine belt on the Ford Escort. The Ford Company recommends that the belt should be changed for every sixty thousand miles the car runs. That is hell of a lot, but still it is a numerological figure one has to remember.
You must be driving an average of at least 12,000 miles per year. The serpentine belts in the car are naturally built to last very long compared to the other conventional belts. However, the serpentine belts all said and done tend to wear out from the inside and some of the most common problems are that they tend to split, and also cut from the inside.
Now these splits and cuts may not always be visible. It is only visible when you take a close inspection of the belt. Every 6 months get into a habit of checking these belts and if you notice any wear and tear then immediately replace it. Use the owner’s manual and refers to the belt diagram. Follow every single instruction mentioned there. At the end of it all check if the belt is functioning properly.
