Flex Fuel vehicles should not be confused with bi fuel vehicles as they both are quite different from each other. When there are two types of fuel stored in separate tanks the engine will typically run on one type of fuel all the time. This is the concept on which the Ford Flex works. There are not many vehicles that fall into this category.
The Ford Flex is a commercially available model and is an ethanol flexible fuel vehicle. This car is sold only in four markets, Brazil, Canada, Europe and the US. Ford Flex is a whole concept, and several types of vehicles, which include motorcycles, are sold under this concept in the world. Especially in California, these vehicles have been extremely successful.
There are also methanol fuel Flex vehicles available. Since mixing of fuels is not a problem, the Ford Flex can be operated on any type of fuel literally. It is a fuel saving option because ethanol and methanol are naturally produced spirits while gasoline is a fossil fuel. When the car uses gasoline less your running costs also go down on the whole. The maintenance aspect is also very easy with the Ford Flex.
