The Fusion is manufactured in the Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly Plant in Mexico in the city of Sonora. The Mercury Milan is also assembled there. The car is built on the CD3 platform and borrows several features from the Mazda counterparts. The Fusion began its production in 2005 itself and it completely replaced the Mondeo in Central America.
The parts for the Fusion like the engine and others are manufactured in Detroit and many other parts are taken from Mazda. However, the complete car is assembled only in México as of today. The Ford Fusion sells in several countries in Central America, South America, and Middle East and also in India. It is also widely sold in Europe. It has been a very successful car ever since its launch.
The Fusion is a special car from Ford because it is the new face of Ford and it is a revamped model to start with. Until the fusion Ford mainly concentrated making on the same old cars with the same look and just modifications made on the interiors. However, the Fusion is a fresh breath of air and beats all its previous models. Ford also has plans to expand its manufacturing units to India, and the cars may soon be assembled in this country also.
