2008 NASCAR Schedule

Also known as National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, NASCAR is largest sanctioning professional sports organization in the U.S. conducting more than 1500 races at over 100 tracks in 39 States, Canada and Mexico. |
History of stock car racing dates back to 1900, when the first races were conducted on the Daytona Beach in Florida. However, the first stock race under NASCAR was organized at Charlotte Speedway in 1949. From then on, NASCAR has been continuously sanctioning stock car races all over US. The three largest racing events sanctioned by NASCAR include the NEXTEL Cup Series, the Busch Series and the Craftsman truck series. The NEXTEL Cup Series is the highest level of sports competition comprising of 36 races over 10months. Apart from these, there are certain other major racing car events promoted by NASCAR that include the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, NASCAR Mexico Corona Series and Wheelen All-American Series.
The 2008 season is bound to see certain changes in the NASCAR schedule. One important decision that has been taken by NASCAR is that all the cars racing in 2008 would be using an environmental friendly high-octane racing fuel. The 2008 series of NASCAR is scheduled to begin on February 17, 2008, with the first race being held as Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. The teams would then move towards California, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Bristol, and Vanderbilt. The season would finally end on August 23, 2008 with the race being held at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee.
