2003 Toyota Tacoma Fuel Mileage Ratings

Manufactured by Toyota Group, the 2003 Toyota Tacoma is the first generation compact pickup truck known for its toughness and reliability. Available in seventeen different configurations, this unique automobile from Toyota is quite suitable for any work-related or recreational activity.

There are a total three engines available for first generation Toyota Tacoma models. These include a 142hp, 2.4L, 4-cylinder engine, a 150hp, 2.7L, 4-cylinder engine and a 190hp, 3.4L V6 engine. All the engines were associated with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 4-speed automatic transmission. While the pre-runner models of Tacoma were fitted with a 2-wheel drive, the off-road vehicles were configured with a rear wheel/four wheel drive.

The interiors are ergonomically designed, packed with comfortable seating for driver and passengers, cup-holders, wide knee room, good head space, electric rotary climate controls, comfortable four-spike steering wheel, auto-off headlights, adjustable front seatbelt anchors and tinted windshield glass. Apart from these, safety measures included in the vehicle are anti-lock brakes, child restraint systems, pretensioners, disc and drum brakes, driver side airbags and passenger side airbags.

However, a notable disadvantage of the 2003 Toyota Tacoma is its fuel economy. According to the revised MPG estimates, the Toyota Tacoma 2WD variant with 2.4L engine and 5-speed manual transmission is the best in the series with a mileage of 20mpg in the city and 25mpg on the highway. This variant is closely followed by Toyota Tacoma 2WD variant with 2.4L engine and 4-speed automatic transmission with a mileage of 19mpg in the city and 23 mpg on highway.  All the remaining configurations of 2003 Toyota Tacoma have a mileage range of 15-17mpg inside the city and 18-22mpg on the highway.

However, all the variations of the 2003 Toyota Tacoma are not environmental friendly as they emit huge amounts of greenhouse gases. The EPA Air Pollution Score of 2003 Toyota Tacoma variations is between 1 and 2.
